Roundup – April 20, 2009 ( $AAPL $MU $SNDK #SOLAR $GE )

Apple secures netbook production at Foxconn.  Apple has suggested the netbook market is full of cheap quality products and has suggested they’d avoid a low end offering – expect them to fill the high end of the market with a $600-900 offering in the next several months.

DRAM and NAND spot prices drifted 1-2% lower after a pretty big rally last week.  NAND contract prices rose over 10% for the second half of April on the back of reports of large Apple orders.  DRAM contract prices rose a more sober 2-5%.

More Chinese solar details emerged.

Mediatek orders at Taiwan Semiconductor must have fallen off – they’re now expected to be down in May and June due to high handset chip inventory.  Mediatek tends to be overreactive in terms of production but is also likely an early indicator of direction due to their aggressive market share goals.
